History

All the people who knew for a fact they were lying about history are now dead, so the only reference point for truth that we have now is Indian history books. The thing about historical evidence is that it is anecdotal at best. The Indians are adept at creating narratives, which coupled with our khatmalish tendencies of self-deprecation help shape historical truths.

For example, in 2070, an Indian student will study in history books that Abhinandan downed an F16 and IAF killed terrorists in Balakot. Satellite images and neutral sources have refuted both claims, but since the Pakistani intellectuals of 2070 (Aal-e-Muzammil) will be so deeply immersed in self-hate and deluded that self-deprecation will magically solve our problems, they will actually support Indian stance out of rebellion against the establishment (ala Tarek Fatah and Ishtiaq Ahmed) instead of impartial and critical analysis. Since both sides will now be on the same page, the fake news will become a credible historical truth.

On one side Muzammil gives the example of Turkey, where Ataturk promoted Turkish nationalism as a separate entity from Muslim nationalism, but on the other hand he preaches that we should have historical clarity and should accept our dark past as a nation. Did Ataturk resort to national self-deprecation like Muzammil wants Pakistanis to do or did he specifically target the Saudis (and their offshoot Ottoman Empire) as villains, while preserving the sanctity and pride of the Turkish nation?

Coincidentally, we have a pragmatic enemy right next door that has killed more Pakistanis than India, Israel, US combined, but we refuse to anchor our hatred on them because lo and behold, truth prevails, humanity triumphs. If we don't anchor our hatred on Afgandistan, it will eventually spill over to our own institutions such as military, judiciary and parliament or to economically lucrative countries like India, Israel and US.

Had Germany tarnished their national pride because of Hitler, they would have never risen like a Phoenix from the ashes. I saw an interview on YouTube where some German youth were interviewed about Hitler. Everyone said he was a villain. Then they were asked if they were ashamed of Hitler's actions and would like to apologize. They answered why should they because they weren't even born then. As a litmus test, select 100 random Pakistanis and ask them who was responsible for the fall of Dhaka. All of them will blame either Bhutto or Yahya (both Pakistanis), none will blame Bengalis or India. This is enough evidence that we are sorry for the blunders of our ancestors, but we don't need to apologize for them or to feel ashamed since it wasn't us.

All of this is irrelevant though. The only route to salvation is to sell software and earn money. Once we have enough money, education and civility will automatically follow, or at least the world will begin to see us as educated, civil humans. Without money, you can become epitome of humanity, but the world will still call you terrorists.
